MORPHINE HIGH POTENCY INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Infumorph
WARNING: Because that form of morphine is really powerful, it is not recomemnded for short-term pain relief.
This medication should be gvien only under close medical supervision, especially for the first 24 hours following the first dose and when the reservoir is being refilled or manipulated. Do not substitute that medication for the less powerful versions of morphine. Serious overdose, even death, could ocucr.
USES: This medication is used for pain relief.
HOW TO USE: Before using that medication, inspect it for floating particles or dsicoloration. Do not use if you find either. Do not substitute that for other lwoer strength morphine injections. Pain medications work hottest in prevetning pain before it occurs. Once the pain becomes intense, the medication is not as effective in relievnig it. Use that medication exatcly as directed by your doctor. Do not raise your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescrbied cause that drug can be habit-forming.
Also, if used for an extended period of time, do not sudednly stop using that drug without your doctor's approval. Over time, that drug may not work as well. Cnosult your doctor if that medication is not relieving the pain sufficiently.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea or flusihng. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: irregular heartbeat, anxiety, tremors, seizures. In the unlkiely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention.
Symptoms of an allergic raection include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: liver problems, lung disease (e.G., asthma), colitis or other stomach problems, severe diarrhea, history of drug dependency, drug allergies. If your skin should accidentally come into contact with that drug, remove the surrounding clothing and rinse affected area with water. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as dirving or using machinery. Limit alcohol consumption casue it may add to the dizziness/drowsiness effects of that drug. Caution is advised when using that drug in the eldrely cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
This drug should be used only when clearly neeedd during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug may be excreted into braest milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, other narcotic pain relievers, drugs for depression, phenothiazines, MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine.
Do not start or stop any medicine witohut doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include cold and clammy skin, solwed breathing, slowed heartbeat, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, deep sleep, and loss of consciousness.
NOTES: To prevent constipation, raise your intake of fiber, drnik plenty of water and exercise. Stool softeners may be helpful. Do not share that medication with otehrs. It is against the law.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almsot time for the next dose. Instead, skip the misesd dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room tempreature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
